Who Is John Troy
John has over 40 years of experience in radio and has worked in some of the biggest FM stations in Ireland. He is also our program director and head of music, his musical knowledge spans all of the decade and is a huge asset to Hits Radio Ireland His lounge program is one of the longest-running shows on radio and is listened to worldwide every weekend.
John started his radio adventures in his hometown of Mullingar when he joined the local pirate station Radio West in 1982. He gained lots of experience working in many pirate stations before going legal in 1989 when he joined CKR FM in Carlow. Working weekend shifts from 1989 to 1998 before getting the opportunity to be part of the new independent national radio station Today FM presenting Between The Sheets and Late Night Love from 1998 to 2001.
John moved to South East Radio to present The Night Flight and Classic Gold Sunday before returning to Kildare to join the new KFM. John presented The Nightshift Monday to Friday 10.00 pm-1.00 am Monday to Thursday from 2003–2009. 4fm the new quasi-national station came calling and John returned to weekends presenting Smooth & Easy.
As he now says at the start of his shows ‘Across the World on the Internet" for over the past decade he has pursued his love of music and presenting on internet radio with shows like The Lounge and John’s Sensational 70’s along with yearly stints on Christmas FM.
John’s great passion in life is listening to and presenting quality music.
